Park U18s - Match Report

10 Goal Thriller

(Gary Meacock 11/02/2018)

5    Frodsham JFC Park U18s
5    Congleton Rovers U18s

(Match Date: Sunday 11th February 2018)
Frodsham came from a 3 goal deficit with 15 minutes to go to come away with a point.

Both teams were evenly matched but Congleton Rovers were 3-1 up at half time. An own goal gave Congleton the lead and they doubled their lead 30 minutes in. Frodsham got on the scoresheet with a great through ball down the left for Tom, he still had a bit to do coming in from the angle and put a great right footed curling shot in the far corner. Musty made some excellent saves to keep us in the game however a dubious free kick awarded to Congleton gave them a 2 goal advantage and Frodsham were on the end of another contentious decision when Loc was taken out in the penalty box in the last minute of the half was not given.

Disgruntled at half time but got all fired up for the second half knowing that the next goal was crucial.

Unfortunately Congleton took a 3 goal lead but within minutes Frodsham’s pressure paid off with a headed flick on to Tom who placed his right foot shot in the bottom left corner.

Congleton restored their 3 goal advantage however Frodsham had changed their formation to 4-3-3 to keep the pressure on the Congleton defenders.

So….. with 15 minutes and 5-2 down, it was time for the fightback. It was a another through ball to Tom which split Congletons defence. Tom calmly rounded the keeper and slotted the ball into the empty to claim the hattrick his performance warranted.

Few more substitutions to rotate fresh legs and it was Matty who grabbed Frodsham’s fourth will a very well taken goal and it was left up to Nat to close out the fightback, with his back to goal, a drop of the shoulder and turn give him the opportunity to drill the ball home across the keeper.

A good performance from all the lads, especially in the second half, shame we can’t a game with the same intensity.
Many other talking points in the game, Tom through on goal pull buck, Thomas long shots when the keeper was off his line were just a couple.

MOM went to Tom, whilst everyone put in a good shift today and with Musty as always alert in goal, we couldn’t ignore the game changing performance from Tom.
