Park U18s - Match Report

End Of An ERA

(Gary Meacock 29/04/2018)

1    Frodsham JFC Park U18s
3    Sandbach United U17s

(Match Date: Sunday 29th April 2018)
Frodsham Park ended the season with a 3-1 defeat against Sandbach. Whilst those who can recall one our most famous comebacks against the opposition, it wasn’t one that Park could replicate today.

Frodsham were 1-0 down with a minute with a cracking volley from a free kick and we succumb to 2 further goals.

Frodsham seemed sluggish and having not played for 3 weeks it was symptomatic of the whole season which was predominately stop start for the 10 league games played.

Frodsham did create chances in the first half however we just not clinical in the final third.
Second half Frodsham started well and managed to claw a goal back after 8 minutes when Charlie was the first to react to stab the ball home from close range. Whilst Sandbach had to dig in many times to ensure Frodsham couldn’t get the second, Frodsham had to be alert to ensure Sandbach’s number 20 and 7 who we dangerous on the attack.

So it wasn’t to be for Frodsham Park today and as I reflect on the season, whilst there is disappointment that so many teams fell by the wayside during the season (Alsager, Winsford, Goostrey and Macclesfield) there is also a great deal of pride that the boys all stuck together not just for this season but across the 8 years.

Both Sam and I have had the privilege to be part of the club and meet and work with so many committed people. A huge thank you for the support the club, the parents and the players have all shown over the past 8 years. (also a thank you to those who spend their time reading the biased waffle I put down every week).

I wish all the lads every success in their exams and their future careers….
